The latest dark comedy, which has the two inconsistent actors in the lead. Well, I liked their performance, they competed each others to steal the show in their unique characters. I enjoyed watching it in parts, but frankly I am disappointed for this potential theme was misused for ineffectual narration.

Looks like inspired by ‘Serial Mom’. When a little, strange but a happy family who are living by the storybook of their own was threatened by the dark side of the life, they are ready to jump into the hell to save it. They have ignited it, but the only concern is how to end it all for good.

Other than IMDb where it stands average, the movie was slammed very badly by the critics and moviegoers. I have seen even worse than this one. So to me it is an average except the end, otherwise below average. Yes, the conclusion was terrible, seems like they don’t want a continuation. I mean they wanted to end it all here itself. It is a watchable, but simply not the best one.

Really good watch, would watch again and can recommend.

Sometimes, it’s important to watch movies with actors of which you’re less of a fan. It lowers your expectations and reminds you of their true, objective acting talent.

This is a very interesting watch on the real life symptoms and side effects of sociopathy and/or repressed psychopathy. It’s the time of psych thriller that is scary because it could be happening to you in your own home. It doesn’t mean you’re stupid / not perceptive or they’re super smart / devious. It just means that they’re (at least) slightly more calculated than you.

There is a slew of metaphors in here from equals in a relationship to the upper class lording over their lessers, but there is a pivotal moment where they could have expressly made it about men vs women, and it (very obviously) did not turn down that road.

Really, if you like pysch thrillers, put this in your queue, I think you’ll enjoy it.

Empty watch, won’t watch again, and can’t recommend.

I basically gave this a shot because Sarah Snook looked cute and it was a horror movie I hadn’t heard about. I had really expected it to get a lot better from there. Sadly it doesn’t.

The opening sequence is an odd choice, but it’s just a mechanic to get her in a wheelchair, which I really wanted to love, but it is used a cheap way to debilitate her and add to a fear of helplessness when it sort of does the opposite. As someone who has had to use a wheelchair before, it separates the character from most of the audience because they don’t have that frame of reference: it’s alienating usually. The movie has to be really good and draw the audience to relate to the character before they can overlook things that seem foreign to them.

There are some really good sequences with the ghost, and it actually reminded me of “Evil Dead” quite a bit, but it did sort of devolve into what looks like two girls mud wrestling, so I’m hoping that wasn’t a factor.

The story is all jumbled and clunky in how it’s told so it ruins all the parts that would make it interesting, but even with a good mystery / twist, I think the movie would have been average at best, and instead it’s a waste of time. There are so many better movies out there to watch.

Some southern spooky times in this film along with a mystery that’ll try to throw you off the path of what seems to be predictable coming close to the final act.

The reveal isn’t a bad one and in fact it was pretty clever. Some might be disappointed in the reveal if they found it early. The effects were mild but pretty cool.
